Terms of use

Draft. This page hasn't been reviewed yet and may change before In Your Words launches.

These terms are the agreement between you and CHARISMO LIMITED ([company number and registered address]), which runs In Your Words. By creating an account or answering a question, you agree to them. Our privacy notice explains how we handle personal data.

The service

In Your Words lets you ask the people in your family questions and keep their answers, written or recorded, in a private collection the family can share. If we ever introduce paid features we'll tell you first, and you won't be charged without agreeing to it.

Your account

Your stories stay yours

You, and the people who answer, keep ownership of everything added to a collection. You give us permission to store, copy, transcribe and display it only as needed to run the service for the family it belongs to. That permission ends when the content is deleted, apart from copies in backups until they expire.

When you ask, add or share something, make sure you're entitled to:

Answer links

Each question gets its own private link. Anyone who has it can answer that question, so only send it to the person it's for. Links last 30 days and can be revoked or replaced from the Inbox.

Families and roles

Each person's collection has at least one manager, who can invite family, change roles and remove people. The person a collection is about can claim it after answering. If the only manager deletes their account, that collection is deleted too.

Acceptable use

Don't use In Your Words to:

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and will tell you why unless the law or someone's safety prevents it.

Availability

We work to keep the service running and your stories safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change or stop features. If we ever close the service, we'll give you reasonable notice first.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under consumer law or our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, we aren't responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, or that come from content other people add.

Changes and the law

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you before the change takes effect; if you don't agree, you can delete your account. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live.
